Our Honorable Prime Minister has a vision to make India a 5 trillion Dollar economy. To achieve this goal, we need a more organized and coordinated effort by different groups across disciplines and expertise domains. For the economy in the country to remain vibrant and self rejuvenating, it must be comprehensively engaged with the higher education system in the country. Creation of a large eco-system that freely allows horizontal interaction between students, faculties, researchers, industry and entrepreneurs is crucial in strengthening the country on the innovation front.
Taking the above facts into account, we have established the Tagore Innovation and Incubation Cell (TIIC) in our college as a small step to provide a platform for the stakeholders to exchange ideas, share resources, establish startups and develop networks to explore the unlimited possibilities that exist in our country to yield a focused economic growth. This cell aims to lead the stakeholders to understand the significance of innovation and to provide an insight on grooming the students to focus on innovation to become successful technopreuners.
As per the new startup and innovation policy of government of Tamil Nadu to start 5000 startups by 2023 with a special focus on MSMEs, our Tagore Innovation and Incubation Cell aims to set a target of “100 Days-100 Startups” by providing a support base for innovation for the stakeholders that will eventually map innovation with the learning process for the benefit of the society.
TIIC was inaugurated on 20th February, 2020 at the college auditorium. Ms.A.Sasikala, a renowned entrepreneur and Tamil Nadu State Secretary, Prime Minister Jan Kalyankari Yojna was the chief guest. Principal, Tagore Engineering College Dr.L.Raja welcomed the gathering. Several eminent personalities like Mr.Mansoor Ali Khan, Founder &Chairperson, M-Auto Electric Mobility, Mr.M.Hindunathan, Secretary, Tamil Nadu Small and Tiny Industries Association, Mr.K.C. Durairaj, Joint Secretary, Tamil Nadu Small and Tiny Industries Association, Mr.Vetrividiyal Srinivasan, Startup Mentor and Mr.M.Prabhugandhi, Head Safety Engineer &Disaster Management Consultant, MPSS Constructions shared their rich experience in entrepreneurship and motivated the audience on promoting the cutting edge and socially relevant innovation. This event also included pitching session where around 32 students in 7 batches presented their ideas to the investors.
Our institution provides a platform for the students to tap their potential , exhibiting their talents, sharing ideas by guiding them and encouraging them in terms of technical advice, organizing Entrepreneurship Awareness Camps, Business Skill Workshops, Motivational campaigns, organising E club activities and B plan contests.
Our students have designed a low cost prototype for pill remainder and won second prize (Runner Up) in “Google Startup weekend” held at Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu in August 2019.

Received 5000 as ccash prize in National convention: Research and Innovation in Science and Enginnering organised by university of petroleum and Energy studies, Dehradun on 26th April 2019.
In addition to the above, refresher programmes are organized to provide the students an insight on the process of turning a research idea into a business plan, earning the details of commercialization and entrepreneurship. Mentoring will be provided to the students to learn the commercial side of innovation such as intellectual property rights and supply chains. With these measures, students and faculty members are working as a team to develop the tools, methods and skills necessary to bring a technology to market in a cost effective way for the benefit of the society.
